Postdoc in Molecular Infection Biology

A postdoc fellowship is currently available in the lab of Andrea Puhar at the Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS) – The Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine and the Department of Molecular Biology at Umeå University, Sweden.

The group studies how elements of the gut and the intestinal bacteria regulate and react to the dynamic appearance and disappearance of endogenous dangers signals (DAMPs) during infection. The open project focuses on how the danger signal extracellular ATP regulates and is regulated by intestinal bacteria.

Applicants must hold a PhD at the time of recruitment. They should have expertise in molecular microbiology and biochemistry. Previous experience in host-bacteria interaction, cell culture, in vivo work and RNA-Seq are a plus. Applicants should be able to design, perform and analyse experiments, present their research and write papers. Candidates are expected to be proficient in spoken and written English and to have good communication skills. They should be enthusiastic and interact positively with other members of the group and the institute.

The selected candidate will have access to the National Programme in Infections and Antibiotics hosted by MIMS and may help supervising undergraduate and graduate students.

The fellowship is available immediately for 2 years, with the possibility of an extension. Applications are considered until November 30th 2016.
