The FEMS Council meets annually. It consists of the Delegates of all Member Societies and the officers of the Executive Committee. Members of the Council who are unable to attend may appoint a proxy/deputy. This should be done by using the relevant form (see below). All members of the Council wishing to attend the meeting should complete a registration form (see below) and make their own travel and accommodation arrangements. FEMS Council Participation Grants are available to support the attendance of Delegates of Full Member Societies who are unable to provide financial support themselves. Member Societies may bid to host the Council meeting in their own country. The Executive Committee will elect one venue from amongst those bids.
Documents from these meetings are available at the FEMS Delegates pages (restricted access) or can be retained by FEMS Delegates from our office.
Mycobacteria show a high degree of intrinsic resistance to most antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents. The low permeability of the mycobacterial cell wall, with its unusual structure, is now known to be a major factor in this resistance.
