Peer Review Week is a global event celebrating the essential role that peer review plays in maintaining scientific quality. The event brings together individuals, institutions, and organizations committed to sharing the central message that good peer review, whatever shape or form it might take, is critical to scholarly communications. They organize virtual and in-person events, webinars, interviews and social media activities. The theme of Peer Review Week 2019 is Quality in Peer Review: #PeerRevWk19 #QualityinPeerReview

As past of this year’s conversation about peer review, two of the Editors-in-Chief for Pathogens and Disease, Dr Wilhelmina Huston and Dr Alfredo Garzino-Demo, took the time to share their considerable experience in organizing a high quality peer review process in scientific publishing:
