FEMS is steered and overseen by a Board of Directors, each contributing their skills and experience. The Board of Directors is responsible for FEMS’ strategy, policy and governance, and ensuring the organization works efficiently, is solvent, and delivering to its charitable objectives. Directors also act as Trustees, ensuring the long-term security of FEMS by ensuring the organization is ready to meet future challenges.
Director Roles Available
We are seeking two new members of our Board:
Secretary General – responsible for overseeing FEMS governance including the running of general meetings and elections according to the Articles of Association and overseeing the application, reporting and termination of membership. (full job description)
Director (Business & Policy) – a new role to help connect microbiology research across academia and industry and to work to ensure scientific input into relevant policy making. (full job description)
Term of Office
These roles are for three years, from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2022.

To be officially nominated you will need to submit a letter of support from two Member Societies, along with your CV and a brief covering letter highlighting why you are applying for the role and how you feel your skills and experience can contribute to FEMS, by April 30, 2019 to the Election Committee by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to present their application to the Council on 7 September 2019 in Milan, Italy. Trustees are elected by the Council, which consists of one Delegate from each Member Society and the current Board of Directors.
