Volunteer: Célia Fortuna Rodrigues
Célia is a PharmD and a Post-Doc at LEPABE – Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, Portugal. She did her PhD at the Centre of Biological Engineering, in the University of Minho. Her doctoral research focused on Candida glabrata biofilms and the resistance to antifungal drugs. Her work is now dedicated on microorganisms’ detection through microfluidics systems, but she also collaborates in other research works. She has done student supervisions, tutored in classes of biofilm courses and lectured classes. Since December 2017, she regularly contributes to the online Nature Microbiology Community.
FEMS Microbes is excited to present its latest thematic issue, focusing on bacterial-viral co-infections. Host and microbial factors are critically important for influencing the severity and outcome of infection. Interactions between microbes is an understudied yet important aspect to this process.
