History

In 2010 BNAM was elected as a full-time member of FEMS (Annual Meeting of FEMS Council in Prague, Czech Republic)

BNAM is the successor of Belarusian Microbiological Society – the regional division of former All-Union Microbiological Society functioning in USSR. The history of the Society dates back to 1966 when its principal team member and coordinating core – Department of Microbiology, Belarusian Academy of Sciences was founded. After disintegration of the USSR and declaration of sovereignty of Belarus Republic our Society was transformed and registered under its current designation by Belarus Ministry of Justice on July 21, 2005. In 2007 it successfully passed state re-registration procedure and was entered into Unified Register of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs.

FEMS Journals and Open Access

Embracing an Open Future

All but one of the FEMS journals are now fully open access (OA), with one journal, FEMS Microbiology Letters remaining a subscription journal with free-to-publish and OA options. Open access is key to supporting the FEMS mission of disseminating high quality research as widely as possible: when high quality, peer reviewed sound science is open access, anyone, anywhere in the world with an internet connection, can read it.
