Imagine a Europe where microbiologists have the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive. At the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS), we want to make that vision a reality and your voice is key. 

FEMS has launched a strategic research initiative to better understand the needs and priorities of microbiologists across Europe. To do this, we need the insights of those who know the field best: you, the scientists, educators, and professionals who live and breathe microbiology every day. Your insights will help us identify the most pressing challenges facing the community, guide how we support microbiologists, and ensure your perspective is represented at the European level. 

Why your voice matters 

Every response helps FEMS understand what matters most to the community and contributes to shaping the future of microbiology. Are there emerging scientific questions that need attention? Opportunities for career development that could make a real difference? Ways in which FEMS can better support collaboration, education, and policy advocacy? By participating, you help FEMS design programmes, events, and initiatives that truly meet the needs of the community. 

The survey is brief, taking about twelve minutes to complete. The survey will close on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, at 23:00 CET, so make sure your voice is included before then.
