7th Joint Microbiology & Infection Conference (DGHM & VAAM 2024)

Sponsored by a FEMS Meeting Organizer Grant

Dear Colleagues,

Current global challenges such as climate change, the transformation of ecosystems and the increasing spread of resistant pathogens affect the most diverse facets of microbiology and infection biology. Concepts such as Planetary Health stand for the fact that different ecological systems such as humans, animals and the environment must not be considered separately from each other, but rather in combination.

The 7th joint conference “Joint Microbiology & Infection Conference 2024” of the German Society for Hygiene and Microbiology (DGHM) and the Association for General and Applied Microbiology (VAAM) offers a unique platform for this! From 2-5 June 2024, nationally and internationally renowned speakers and young scientists, as well as representatives from industry, will meet in Würzburg to exchange information on current developments in science and clinical practice.

In 2024, we want to focus on the following key topics in particular:

  • Biotechnology & Synthetic Microbiology
  • Challenges in Antimicrobial Resistance
  • Climate Change & Microbes
  • Communicating Microbes
  • Microbiology in the Digital Era
  • Microbiomes
  • Phages and novel microbial defence systems

In addition to these scientific topics, our Joint Microbiology & Infection Conference will also offer opportunities to discuss topics such as new forms of publication, promotion of young scientists or communication of scientific work and to enable informal exchange with colleagues.

We are looking forward to all participants!
