Antifungal Resistance in Candida and Aspergillus: 19-21 September 2018

Antifungal Resistance in Candida and Aspergillus: from Clinic to Clinical Laboratory is a technical workshop organized by European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) and will be held during 19-21 September 2018 in Delhi, India. Up to 50 clinical microbiologists, infectious disease physicians and laboratory scientists are expected to attend.

Course Objectives

  • The course will consist of three days, of which two days are dedicated to hands-on training of antifungal susceptibility testing, screening of azole resistance in Aspergillus, detection of underlying resistance mechanism of azole- and echinocandin-resistant Aspergillus, Candida auris and Candida glabrata.
  • Focus will be on Candida infections in ICU settings in India, Asia and Europe, interpretation and challenges of AFST in microbiology laboratories in Europe and India.
  • MALDI-TOF applications of antifungal susceptibility testing in Candida will be discussed and demonstrated.
  • Finally, azole resistance in Aspergillus and use of epidemiological cut-off values and resistance in rare and cryptic Aspergillus species will be demonstrated.
  • At the end of the course the participants have learnt the theoretical and practical aspects of antifungal resistance in Aspergillus and Candida. In addition, they will have had ample time to interact with the renowned international faculty in the field.
