The Biozentrum of the University of Basel, Switzerland, announces the opening of the Winter Call 2020 for the Biozentrum PhD Fellowship. Deadline for applications is December 15, 2019.

We invite motivated and dedicated students to join our Biozentrum Basel International PhD Program. The fellowship is unique: students can select any Biozentrum research group through rotations which offers the chance to learn skills and techniques needed in modern biology. This is particularly well suited for students with broad interests or who come from fields such as physics, chemistry or computer science. Moreover, this fellowship gives students full and independent funding for their entire PhD and grant additional travel funds.

The Biozentrum is one of the leading life sciences institutes in the world. It consists of 30 groups and 500 employees. Research at the Biozentrum embraces a wide range of topics with a focus  on understanding how molecules are organized to create life and living organisms. Areas of research are the structure and function of macromolecules, the wiring of regulatory circuits, and the general principles underlying complex biological systems and their dynamic interactions.

The fellowship program was launched in 2006. Meanwhile, 52 PhD students from 26 countries − about half of them women − have completed their doctorate. Currently, 41 fellows conduct research at the Biozentrum.
