ESGAP/ESGBIS Bloodstream infection survey

The ESGAP/ESGBIS Bloodstream infection survey aims to explore current practices regarding management of bacteremia/candidemia, in order to get an international picture on the topic.

The survey is intended for (senior or trainee) specialists in Infectious Diseases or Clinical microbiology, or clinical pharmacists, or any healthcare professional part of an antimicrobial stewardship team worldwide, provided that these professionals regularly give advice on antibiotic treatment of patients with positive blood cultures in their hospital (outside their own department).

The questionnaire will take around 5 to 7 minutes. It is strictly anonymous.

ESGAP and ESGBIS would like to encourage access and use of national data from ESGAP/ESGBIS studies, to support national and regional activities within antimicrobial stewardship. Specifically, registered ESGAP/ESGBIS members can request the raw national data for this Bloodstream infection survey, if a significant number of responses have been reached in their country, as defined below:

  • Countries with population >25 million = 50 responses (e.g. France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom)
  • Countries with population <25 million = 20 responses (e.g. all other European countries)

The data may be used in many ways, including:

  • Presentations at regional, national and international conferences
  • Publications in national and international journals
  • Supporting national and regional improvements in education, research and practice
