Junior Research Group Leader - „Pathogenesis of bacterial infections“: Germany

The Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hospital Epidemiology of Hannover Medi-cal School (MHH, Director: Prof. Dr. Dirk Schlüter) and the TWINCORE(Director: Prof. Dr. Ulrich Kalinke), a joint research institute of MHH and the Helmholtz Institute for Infection Research, seek to recruit a  Junior Research Group Leader (E15) „Pathogenesis of bacterial infections“.

The research focus should be the pathogenesis of medical relevant bacterial infections including the role of host cell signaling. Topics of interest are bacterial pathogenesis, bacterial communication and infection immunology of bacterial infections. The research may cover clinically motivated basic research and clinical research. A cooperation with the clinical departments of Hannover Medical School is welcome and supported.

Applicants are expected to have a very good publication record and ideally should have been successful in obtaining competitive research grants. The date of PhD/MD certification should be passed for more than two but no longer than five years. The research of the successful applicant should support the externally funded research consortia of the MHH including the Collaborative Research Center (CRC, „Sonderforschungsbereich“) 900 and the Excellence Cluster RESIST. The successful candidate will be supported by MHH and TWINCORE to raise external funds and to gain international visibility.

The Junior Research Group is part of the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hospital Epidemiology and financed by this institute. The research group will be located at TWINCORE and integrated in the research infrastructure of TWINCORE. The Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hospital Epidemiology and TWINCOREsupport the junior research group leader by the integration into MHH/TWINCOREand promote the further career development. The junior research group leader will be provided an attractive startup package.

The successful candidate will be offered a contract for five years. Salary is according to the Tarifvertrag der Länder (TVL) of Lower Saxony.
