The KNVM (Royal Netherlands Society for Microbiology) aims to promote the knowledge of and interest in microbiology in the Netherlands. The society has 10 divisions in various microbiological disciplines.

To endorse dissemination of advances in microbiology, the society run a grants and prizes programme for their members.
