Lecturer in bacterial pathogenesis: UK

The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Bacterial Pathogenesis.

The successful candidate will strengthen the academic base within the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine, teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and contribute to School and Institute administration / outreach activity. They will employ multidisciplinary and innovative approaches to advance our understanding as to how bacteria contribute to pathogenesis, chronicity, and recurrence of human disease, including antibiotic resistance.

We encourage applicants with a background in one or more of the following areas: cellular microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, host-pathogen interaction including the immune system, and microbiome in health and disease. However, outstanding candidates in other areas will be considered. The post holder should be able to liaise and develop projects with clinical colleagues, and keen to do discovery science by bridging clinical work and fundamental biology (biomarkers, immune responses, tissue homeostasis among other areas).
