Lecturer in Microbiology: UK

The School is seeking to recruit a Microbiology Lecturer to provide research leave cover by teaching for units on the Cellular and Molecular Medicine and Biomedical Sciences undergraduate programmes, leading subject tutorials, contributing to skills training, and undertaking project supervision. You will also undertake research work – specific project to be tailored to the successful candidate – in the group of Professor Matthew Avison.

You should have research expertise in the area of Bacteriology, ideally the study of Antimicrobial Drug Resistance in Bacteria, and relevant experience of effective teaching of Microbiology on a Biomedical Sciences undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme. You should also have relevant experience of effective marking at undergraduate or postgraduate degree level; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and evidence of ability to carry out academic administrative duties effectively.

This role is available on a full-time basis for 11 months. There may also be potential for the contract to be extended beyond the 11 month term, subject to funding availability
