PhD in Host-Microbe Interactions: Germany

The Dept. of Molecular Immunology at the Ruhr-University Bochum invites applications from highly-motivated candidates (m/f/x) with an interest in molecular and cellular processes during immune responses and host-pathogen interactions.

The aim of the planned project is to decipher the roles of different cell death mechanisms that are induced in the host cell as a reaction towards a Staphylococcus aureus infection. To this end, microbiological (culturing different S. aureus strains and mutants under S2 conditions), molecular biological (PCR), biochemical (Western blot, ELISA) and immunological (flow cytometry/FACS) methods will be applied. Fluorescence and live-cell microscopy shall be used to follow the course of infection.
