Post-doctoral Fellowship in Microbiology: Brazil

Our Center for Development of Functional Materials (CDMF), one of the Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers (RIDCs) funded by São Paulo Research Foundation – Fapesp has invested in analysis of different types of materials with antibacterial properties. In order to reduce the risk of bacterial infection and ensure the long-term effectiveness of dental implants, materials such as silver tungstate (Ag2WO4) have been used as titanium coatings. The aim of this project is to evaluate the physiological response of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus sanguis, in planktonic form and biofilm, to silver tungstate (Ag2WO4). This study will be carried out by multiparametric evaluation with flow cytometry equipment BD FACSAria Fusion. In this context cellular viability rate and cell differentiation will be assessed during the biofilm formation. The mechanisms that govern the pathways of bacterial development will also be evaluated by protein expression profile analysis.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP’s Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,174.80 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
