Postdoc in Microbiology: Germany

The Institute of Microbiology at the Liebniz Universität Hannover invites applications for the position of a Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) in Microbiology starting as soon as possible. The position is limited to 3 years, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities and duties:
The selected candidate will contribute to our research on signal transduction and regulation in microbial cell differentiation using Streptomyces bacteria as a model. Streptomyces are important antibiotic producer that undergo a fascinating morphological and physiological transition during their life cycle.

By using molecular biology and fluorescence microscopy-based techniques (e. g. microfluidics), the candidate will explore how the cyclic di-nucleotide c-di-GMP links environmental signals with cell division. The responsibilities also include 4 LVS teaching in microbial cell biology, participation in lab organization and supervision of students.

Employment conditions:
To qualify for the position, applicants must hold a scientific university degree (M.Sc./diploma) with a focus on microbiology and have experience with successful application of molecular and microbiological techniques. A relevant PhD/doctoral degree is expected.

We seek for candidates with high interest for microbial cell biology and profound experience in fluorescence microscopy. The applicants should be scientifically highly motivated, team-oriented, have excellent English communication skills (written and spoken) and experience in scientific publication.

Part-time employment can be arranged on request.

As an equal opportunities employer, Leibniz University Hannover intends to promote women and men. For this reason, suitably qualified women are specifically invited to apply. Preference will be given to equally qualified applicants with disabilities.
