CIIMAR – Interdisciplinary Center of Marine and Environmental Research seeks to hire a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team under the project “HALVERSITY”. This project aims to study the diversity of a new class of halogenating enzymes and the natural products that result from their action. The project integrates natural products chemistry, metabolomics, biosynthesis and enzymology.

If selected, you will be working at the recently established Cyanobacterial Natural Products Team at CIIMAR – University of Porto (www2.ciimar.up.pt). The laboratory is situated at CIIMAR’s headquarters, in the modern Cruise Ship Terminal of the Leixões Harbour, in Matosinhos, greater Porto area. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment strongly connected to the Sea and you will have access to state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation and modern laboratory facilities.

Skills/Qualifications
The candidates are required to hold a PhD degree in chemistry, microbiology, pharmacognosy or biochemistry and preferably in a subject relevant to natural products chemistry, biosynthesis and/or enzymology.

Candidates should have excellent academic credentials, have willingness for team work and be highly motivated and committed to work with microbial chemistry and biochemistry. Due to the multidisciplinary character of this project, candidates should be willing and motivated to expand their expertise beyond their background discipline(s).
