Research Assistant (Postdoc)

In the Department of Biology, in the division of Plant Biodiversity and Evolutionary Ecology of Plants, the Junker research group, is currently accepting applications for a Research Assistant (Postdoc).
The position is offered for a period of one year. The starting date is 01.09.2024. The position is part-time (50 % of regular working hours) with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 50 %).
Tasks:
- conducting experiments as part of a project funded by the DFG
- field and laboratory work in the context of plant-microbe responses to drought and analyzing existing datasets
- present updates and findings at group and scientific meetings and manuscript preparation for publication in peer-reviewed journals
- participation in the activities of the research group (e.g., participate in lab meetings, mentor students etc.)
The position will be filled by a temporary contract that is limited to the period which is necessary to gain further scientific expertise (such as the preparation for a subsequent qualification period). Within the entrusted tasks the opportunity for independent scientific work to obtain further personal qualification is given. The limitation of the contract complies to § 2, 1 WissZeitVG.
Profile:
- Diploma, Master’s degree or equivalent and a PhD degree in the field of plant ecology, plant biology, or related subjects]()
- Postdoc experience with and a strong publication record in the field of plant responses to environmental stressors
- familiarity with plant growth under greenhouse and field conditions
- experience in using command line tools such as R
- ability to work independently and productively and to troubleshoot
- proficiency in spoken and written English
- teamwork
Disposition to own scientific qualification is expected.
