Staff Scientist or Postdoctoral Fellow - Cancer Microbiota Interactions: Wellcome Sanger Institute, UK

We are seeking a talented, motivated and experienced Staff Scientist or Postdoctoral Fellow to work at the Wellcome Sanger Institute on immune system-microbiota interactions under the leadership of Dr Trevor Lawley (www.lawleylab.com) and Dr David Adams (http://www.sanger.ac.uk/people/directory/adams-david). We are expanding our germ free/gnotobiotic capabilities and are looking for a Scientist to lead the development of mouse models to understand how the human microbiota influences health and immunity. This position would be ideal for someone who recently completed postdoctoral training and has a strong background in mouse biology with a focus on such areas as immunology, metabolism, cancer biology or vaccinology.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a dynamic team investigating the role of the microbiota in a variety of diseases, such as infections, cancers and immunotherapy using clinical samples, genomics, microbiology and model organisms. There is a strong translational focus with the goal of developing novel, microbiome-based diagnostics and therapeutics.

The successful applicant will have experience in designing and performing mouse experiments and analysis of the immune system using approaches such as flow-cytometry, transcriptomics and immunophenotyping to identify human commensal bacteria with immunomodulatory properties. The post-holder will be part of a multidisciplinary, collaborative team and will be expected to work closely with existing team members to accomplish scientific objectives and proactively identify, establish and develop new collaborations and drive publications.
