Dive into the programme

At the heart of this year’s event is the theme Magnifying microbial impact. Just as magnification has transformed our understanding of microbes for over 300 years, today’s research is expanding their impact on some of the world’s biggest challenges—from climate change to infectious diseases. The FEMS MICRO Milan 2025 programme is designed to bring these critical conversations to the forefront.

This year’s Congress & Exhibition will feature the most dynamic and diverse range of session formats to date. Structured around four key topic tracks: Eco Innovations, Health Horizons, Biotechnology, and Engagement & Growth—the programme offers a rich and in-depth exploration of the latest advancements and real-world applications shaping the future of microbiology.

Detailed information on the programme is coming soon, but you can already explore the Interactive Sessions at FEMS MICRO 2025, including four sessions presented by the European Academy of Microbiology (EAM).

Inspiring keynote speakers

Our keynote speakers are leaders in their fields, pushing the boundaries of microbial science with real-world impact:

A dynamic scientific programme

Alongside the latest cutting-edge research from our abstract and session proposal submitters, we are curating an interdisciplinary programme designed to foster engagement and collaboration. From informal meet-ups and fireside chats in the Community Corner to in-depth debates tackling key scientific and societal challenges, there will be countless ways to connect, exchange ideas, and explore the future of microbiology.

The cornerstone of the scientific programme, Session Talks give you the chance to dive deep into key research topics. These sessions, grouped by topic, provide a focused space for meaningful discussions and knowledge exchange.

Amid the energy of the Exhibition, Flash Talks offer a fast-paced way to discover exciting research. These 5-minute presentations, held during the main break between morning and afternoon sessions, are a great opportunity to hear key findings in a dynamic, engaging format.

A dynamic space for discussion, the Poster Displays will showcase the work of hundreds of researchers each day. Attendees can engage with presenters during dedicated sessions at midday and the Poster Networking Reception in the evening, offering structured opportunities for conversation over refreshments.
