Non-academic

Fellow position - Laboratory of Cancer Biology: Italy

We are seeking a fellow candidate to join the Cancer Biology team led by Dr. Stefano Campaner within the Genomic Science Research Line at the Center for Genomic Science of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Milan, Italy (https://cgs.iit.it/research/cancer-biology), coordinator Dr. Francesco Nicassio. The Center for Genomic Science of IIT@SEMM (http://genomics.iit.it ) benefits from state-of-the-art facilities and advanced technologies.

The successful candidate will be integrated in a lively community of experimental and computational scientists. Our group has a long-standing interest in understanding the molecular mechanisms of transformation induced by oncogenic transcription factors such as Myc and the Hippo pathway co-activators YAP and TAZ. The selected candidate will work on the characterization of a number of novel  YAP/TAZ regulators that we recently identified by a loss of function genetic screen (unpublished), with the aim of addressing their relevance in cancer stem cells regulation, chemoresistance and metastasis in Breast and Liver Cancer models.

Emphasis will be placed in (i) understanding upstream regulatory mechanisms  (ii) the dissection of transcriptional and epigenetic networks (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, single-cells RNA-seq), both in-vitro and in-vivo and (iii) in-vivo genetic studies based on orthotopic models. The ideal candidate should be trained in basic molecular biology techniques, cell culture and basic biochemistry. Previous experience in working with in-vivo models, organoids or in Next Generation Sequencing techniques will be highly valued.

The candidate will work in the framework of the project “Functional and phenotypic characterization of novel TAZ regulators” supported by AIRC IG Grant 2018 (project code 21663).

Required skills and experience

  • Master degree life sciences/Biological Science
  • Fluency in written and oral English.

Applications should be e-mailed to both applications@iit.it and stefano.campaner@iit.it and include a CV, a short statement about professional skills and interests and name and contacts of two referees.

Candidates should also ask to one of the referees mentioned in the application to send a reference letter directly to applications@iit.it and stefano.campaner@iit.it. Selected candidates will be initially interviewed by Skype.

Application deadline: June 30, 2019 or until the position is filled.
