FEMS Workshop: The Foundation of Networking and Personal Branding

Learn the concepts behind networking online and how to brand yourself to achieve your professional goals. This workshop is part of the FEMS workshop series on Networking and Personal Branding, which will be led by Ben Libberton, a science communicator, formerly a Postdoc in the biofilm field. This workshop on personal branding and networking is divided in 4 parts, allowing a smooth transition from beginner content to higher level with homework in between for reflection and practice. The social media training will cover Twitter, LinkedIn, as well as other social media.

  • Reaching out – networking effectively with digital tools There are so many ways to connect online that it can feel paralyzing at times. In this session we’ll uncover how to expand your network and how to reach out in an effective and respectful way.

Workshop 3:

  • Attract attention from your peers with personal branding One of the great things about the internet today is that anyone from around the world can discover you. If you optimize your online profiles you can attract the attention of your peers and unlock new professional opportunities. This session will explore exactly how to optimize your online persona.

Workshop 4:

  • 20 June, 3.30 PM CEST
  • Personal Branding and Digital Networking Here we will pull together concepts from personal branding and digital network to create an effective holistic strategy for increasing your professional impact online. This workshop will be held at the World Microbe Forum, a collaboration between the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS), American Society for Microbiology (ASM), and several other societies.
