Head of Food Microbiology: Ireland
Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute Northern Ireland (AFBI) is looking for a Principal Scientific Officer.
This post offers the exciting opportunity to join a well-established and multidisciplinary scientific group and to play a key role to support AFBI to deliver food safety and animal health commitments by leading programmes of work in food microbiology, zoonotic bacterial diseases, gut health and novel approaches to the control of foodborne pathogens. The Food Microbiology Unit provides innovative research, analytical services and specialist advice on the detection, characterisation and control of foodborne pathogens, food hygiene, food preservation and related areas in support of Government Departments, the agri-food industry and other customers. There are significant opportunities to undertake innovative research work in conjunction with research scientists from other disciplines within AFBI and in collaboration with other academic groups and centres of excellence.
Further appointments may be made from this competition should AFBI positions become vacant which have similar duties and responsibilities.
