Oil-Dri Corporation of America is looking to hire a Microbiology Laboratory Technician. Successful candidate will become part of a dynamic and creative Life Sciences team engaged in developing natural disease management solutions for promoting gut health in livestock animals.  He/She will assist in development and commercialization of new and improved products, perform routine and non-routine microbiological lab duties, and provide technical support for every aspect of the microbiology laboratory operations.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain assisgned aspects of the microbiology laboratory work to provide material and technical support to scientific staff
2. Perform general laboratory duties, including but not limited to:  media preperation/steralization, reagents and supplies re-stocking, propagating microbial cultures, performing serial dilutions and enumerating various target microorganisms, pathogen analyses using cultivation-based and cultivation-independent methods
3. Understand the validation principles for microbiological methods, develops and validates new microbiological test methods
4. Draft relevant test methods  and prepare study reports and protocol completion summaries
5. Maintain accurate and well-organized laboratory records, notebooks and/or worksheets

Qualifications/Requirements:

• BS in Microbiology or Biological/Biomedical Sciences required
• 1-2  years of experience in a lab setting preferred
• Conversant with aseptic technique
• Working knowledge of equipment features and process parameters typical of a microbiology laboratory and proficient in resolving routine problems/issues
• Strong analytical and math skills, along with data reporting abailities required
• Organized and Self-motivated
