National Biofilms Innovation Centre: 5th Proof of Concept Funding Call
The National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC) have launched their 5th Proof of Concept (PoC) funding call for projects from interested parties who have the experience and knowledge necessary to investigate and exploit areas in which biofilms play a central part.
Projects will be expected to develop a concept, idea or technology from any application sector, which can be in a laboratory, model or real world setting, to give confidence for further work. The PoC programme is not aimed at basic research, we would expect projects to be at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 2-6.
NBIC expects to fund up to 20 projects lasting up to 12 months and for NBIC’s contribution to be up to £75K for each project.
Combined, NBIC’s previous four PoC calls received 207 applications from which 83 projects were awarded funding – representing a £4.4m investment from NBIC and a total value of £6.7m. Details of all awarded projects can be found on the NBIC website.
The online application form for this funding call is now open and will close at 23:59pm on Friday 12 April 2024. Decision and offer letters will be sent towards the end of June 2024.
Full details of this funding call can be found on the NBIC website – including eligibility details, FAQ’s, information on Intellectual Property and finance guidelines.
