PhD in Atmospheric and Ecotone Viral Ecology: Germany
The Junior Research Group of Dr. Janina Rahlff embedded in the research group of Prof. Dr. Manja Marz at the Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena seeks a PhD student in atmospheric and ecotone viral ecology.
The focus of the group is to study the biodiversity, adaptations, and host interactions of bacterial viruses (bacteriophages) from atmospheric ecosystems and ecotones such as the air-water boundary. In this project, you will combine wet and dry lab experiments to study viral abundance, diversity, dispersal, and interactions with hosts across such ecosystems (rainwater, cloudwater, surface microlayer). The position is envisioned to start in October 2023.
