The Infection Immunology group in the Dept. of Molecular Immunology at the Ruhr-University Bochum invites applications from highly-motivated candidates (m/f/x) with an interest in molecular and cellular processes during immune responses and host-pathogen interactions.

The offered project will study the interactions of enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) with epithelial and immune cells and aims to identify and characterize the bacterial virulence proteins involved in uptake into the host cells To this end, microbiological (culturing of bacteria under BSL2 conditions), molecular biological (PCR and cloning), biochemical (Western blot, ELISA), immunological (flow cytometry/FACS) and cell biology methods will be applied. Fluorescence and live-cell microscopy, as well as the establishment of novel cell culture models will be an important aspect of the offered project.
