Postdoc position (all gender)

Our laboratory is interested in various aspects of glycobiology in eukaryotic organisms with a main focus on O-mannosylation, an evolutionarily conserved, essential protein modification.

Your tasks:

In the frame of SFB 1036 our group investigates the role of O-mannosylation for protein quality control in the endoplasmic reticulum using the eukaryotic model organism baker´s yeast. The successful candidate will continue an ongoing project in which significant results have already been obtained. The postdoc is expected to complete and publish the study.

Your qualifications:

• Completed doctorate in biology or other life sciences with a focus on molecular biology, cell biology, protein biochemistry or related areas.
• Preferably relevant work experience in molecular biology, protein biochemistry (especially membrane- and/or glycoproteins), mass spectrometry and/or glycobiology.
• Preferably background in yeast molecular biology and genetics.
• Teamplayer, good communication and presentation skills.
• Very good knowledge of the German and/or English language (spoken and written).

We are looking for a self-motivated personality with strong skills in experimental design and troubleshooting. High degrees of self-initiative, resilience, creativity and flexibility are prerequisites.

Your project will be embedded in a collaborative research center with numerous synergies, including inter alia groups from the Center for Molecular Biology (ZMBH) and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). You will have access to several high-end core facilities.
• Payment will be according to German TV-L, E13 (full time).
