PostDoc and PhD student positions in host-pathogen interaction: Sweden

The recently established Sixt lab at theLaboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS) at Umeå University seeks young investigators that are interested in joining the research team as postdocs or PhD students.

The Sixt lab applies state-of-the-art tools in molecular genetics, microscopy, high-throughput genetic and small compound screening, and next generation sequencing technology, to study the molecular basis of cell-autonomous immunity and bacterial evasion mechanisms during infection with obligate intracellular bacterial pathogens, such as “Chlamydia trachomatis”.

MIMS also constitutes the Swedish node of the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine that was established to facilitate scientific collaboration between the partner institutes and to facilitate access to scientific infrastructure. The Nordic EMBL Partnership combines the complementary research expertise of the Nordic countries with a common aim to address some of the biggest challenges in biomedicine today. MIMS is established within the interdisciplinary Centre of Excellence The Umeå Centre for Microbial Research (UCMR) that includes more than 50 research groups, active in the fields of molecular and clinical microbiology, molecular biology, chemistry and physics. Overall, MIMS thus provides a stimulating, collaborative, and highly international research environment with excellent access to modern research facilities.

If you are interested in joining the team as a PhD student or postdoc, please send your CV and a short letter of motivation to Barbara Sixt (email: barbara.sixt@umu.se).
