Postdoc Position - Bioengineering: USA

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Qing Sun in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University. We focus on synthetic biology with advancing designs and applications. Using our expertise in molecular engineering, protein engineering, and microbial consortia engineering, we are developing new techniques to reprogram gut microbiome, protein machinery, and biomaterials. Our current application areas include health, environment, and energy.

Open positions: We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled postdoc candidate with a strong background in synthetic biology, microbiome engineering and/or protein engineering. This position is available for a term of one year with the possibility of extension for a second year. A competitive salary and benefits package is available. The research project focuses on gut microbiome metabolic engineering and enzyme cassette reactions. Candidates should hold a Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Microbiology, or other relevant disciplines. Working experience with metabolic engineering, GC/HPLC analysis, or DNA/peptide library screening is a plus. Good English communication and writing skills are required. The PI: Qing Sun joined The Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering in January 2018. She obtained her B.S. and master degree from Wuhan University and Tsinghua University, respectively. In 2015, she received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware under the supervision of Dr. Wilfred Chen. Thereafter, she joined Dr. Timothy Lu group in MIT as a postdoctoral researcher. Her research interests include microbiome engineering, animal behavior control, bacteria community assembly, protein engineering, genetic circuits design and biomaterials development for environmental and biomedical applications.
