Postdoctoral position in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology - SBU-CSIC, Spain

A position is available for a postdoctoral researcher to work on a project aimed at studying the molecular biology and function of proteolytic enzymes and their inhibitors. The hosting place is the Proteolysis Lab headed by F. Xavier Gomis-Rüth, which is part of the Structural Biology Unit (SBU) from the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) in Barcelona (Spain).  The SBU is a “María-de-Maeztu” Unit of Excellence of the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. It is part of the Molecular Biology Institute of Barcelona (IBMB), which is located within the premises of the Barcelona Science Park (PCB), a major pole for excellence in research in biomedicine of the Barcelona area.

The candidate must be highly self-motivated and dedicated, be able to work hard independently but also to synergetically interact with other lab members, and have proven experience in all the steps required for protein production, i.e. from cloning to purification. The project does not require skills in structural biochemistry.

The position is scheduled for start in the first quarter of 2019 and currently funded for maximally 3 years, although it may be extended if new funds become available. Applicants will be hired under standard CSIC contract conditions (plus Social security and Health insurance benefits).

Interested persons should apply exclusively per e-mail as soon as possible and send a detailed CV, a covering letter including motivation and contact details of two referees to Laia Vives (lvacri@ibmb.csic.es). The deadline for applications is 14 December 2018.
