Postdoctoral Position in Spatial Epidemiology of Antimicrobial Resistance: Switzerland

ETH Zurich is looking to fill the  Postdoctoral Position in Spatial Epidemiology of Antimicrobial Resistance (100%)

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) – the ability of microbes to evolve and resist treatment – is rising globally. In September 2016, the United Nations General Assembly declared AMR “the most urgent global risk”, and mandated its member states to establish national action plans against AMR, including improvements to epidemiological surveillance systems. This position is part of a project funded by the join programming initiative on AMR to improve surveillance in low- and middle-income countries.
We are looking for an enthusiast and quantitatively minded candidate to work on the spatial association between antimicrobial use and resistance in pig farms in Thailand. This is a fixed term position for two 2 years with an anticipated start date on February 1st 2019. The position is based at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. The successful candidate will join the newly formed spatial epidemiology group led by Thomas Van Boeckel.

We welcome applicants with: (1) A background in veterinary sciences, epidemiology, quantitative geography. (2) Experience with regression models, geostatistics, species distribution models. (3) Experience with the programming language R. (4) Basic knowledge in microbiology, although not required, is an asset. (5) Experience on zoonotic disease, although not required, is an asset.
