PostDoc positions
Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Cell Biomanufacturing: UK
We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) to join Professor Cathy Ye’s research group at the Department of Engineering Science (IBME, Headington). The post is funded by the University Challenge Seed Fund and is fixed-term for 12 months.
The research requires the application of technology developed within the group, specifically a thermo-responsive macrocarrier, for use with porcine muscle cells. The technology has previously been successfully used with human cells, and so adapting existing protocols for porcine cells is central to the research objectives. You will be responsible for establishing a porcine muscle cell culture protocol both in flasks and on thermo-responsive macrocarriers.
You will hold a PhD/DPhil in cell biology or a related field (or be near completion) together with relevant experience. You should be a confident cell biologist and possess the technical capability to isolate, culture and characterise muscle satellite cells. Support will be provided to apply the bioreactor and thermo-responsive macrocarrier technology that has been previously developed in the Ye Lab. The expectation is that research arising from this work will be licensed by a future spin-out company from the University.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Cathy Ye hua.ye@eng.ox.ac.uk.
You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.
Only online applications received before 12.00 midday on Thursday 19 September 2019 can be considered.
The Department holds an Athena Swan Bronze award, highlighting its commitment to promoting women in Science, Engineering and Technology.
