We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to investigate the fundamental mechanisms and pathogen-host interactions of invasion by the fungal pathogen Candida albicans into human epithelial layers. The project involves the use of live and functional fluorescent microscopy performed at the single cell level, as well as molecular and cell biology.

Candidates should hold a PhD and have expertise in cell biology or the study of pathogen-host interactions. Experience with fluorescent microscopy or live imaging is a plus. Previous experience working with fungi is not a requirement. Candidates must be highly motivated, curious and able to work both independently and within a team.

The postholder will be part of the Weiner lab (www.weinerlab.org), based in the Cimi-Paris research institute hosted by the Faculty of Medicine of the Sorbonne University. Cimi-Paris is a multidisciplinary research institute offering an exciting and international research environment in the heart of Paris.

Fungal pathogens present an increasingly growing threat to human health, with Candida species being the most common fungal pathogens. The lab uses an integrated approach combining multi-dimensional fluorescent microscopy, cell biology and correlative light and electron microscopy to study the earliest events of Candida albicans infection at the single cell level.

The position offered is a full-time, fixed-term post, from around September 2019 to September 2021. The selected candidate will also be encouraged to apply for national and international funding.
