Located at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, VIDO is home to one of the largest and most advanced containment level 3 facilities in the world. To strengthen the preparedness for emerging infectious diseases we are currently expanding our infrastructure to include containment level 4 capacity, a GMP vaccine manufacturing facility, and a new animal housing facility supporting a variety of large and small animal models. Our vision includes having the capacity to study any emerging disease in any animal model embracing a One Health approach to prevent emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in humans and animals.

We are seeking an outstanding scientist to join our team of principal investigators and lead an independent, externally funded, and competitive research program in vaccine formulation and delivery.

Position Summary: The successful candidate will develop and lead a globally competitive research program focusing on vaccine formulation chemistry and/or delivery systems relevant to infectious disease control in humans or animals. Areas of specialized interest may include novel delivery systems, adjuvant discovery and formulation, and delivery routes. The position offers considerable opportunity to collaborate in the formulation of vaccine antigens against a variety of (re)emerging high consequence bacterial and viral pathogens of humans and animals. The successful candidate will be expected to recruit and supervise postgraduate trainees and technicians, as well as contribute to knowledge transfer, community, and stakeholder engagement. Appointed candidates will receive generous start-up support and a starting salary highly competitive with comparable academic positions in Canada.
