Professorship in Molecular Nutrition at Department of Animal Science, Aarhus University: Denmark
The Department of Animal Science, Aarhus University, invites highly qualified applicants to apply for a professorship in the area of molecular nutrition. The position is available from 1 February 2020.
With the professorship in Molecular Nutrition, the Department of Animal Science (ANIS) underpins the dedication of being among the top universities in the world with regard to animal science. The professorship should support the development of nutritional research at a molecular level that includes research in the borderline between animal and human nutrition. There is a great potential in the development of knowledge concerning the molecular aspects of nutrition with special emphasis on the metabolism and mechanisms of nutritive and non-nutritive bioactive components. With the professorship, ANIS wants to strengthen the academic leadership of this area and to enhance research and innovation nationally as well as internationally. The professorship will be responsible for the development of new molecular tools with data analytical methods in relation to nutrition and physiology.
The professor will be responsible for attracting external funding, participate in providing research-based consultancy to authorities, secure collaboration and knowledge exchange with industry and society and will be responsible for teaching and supervising students at bachelor, master and PhD levels as well as young researchers and technical staff.
Qualifications for a full professor level at Aarhus University include, for example, a very strong academic background, documented successful grant writing and experience with project management, industrial/public sector collaboration as well as teaching and supervision experience. Department of Animal Science (ANIS)
The mission of ANIS is to perform basic, strategic and applied research and innovation within the department’s core activities: nutrition, health and welfare. The activities make up the science-based foundation of ANIS’ teaching, public sector consultancy and collaboration with business and industry. ANIS includes strong research units within immunology and microbiology, molecular nutrition and reproduction, animal nutrition and physiology, animal behaviour and stress biology and epidemiology and management in which areas the core activities take place. The successful applicants will be working in the Section of Molecular Nutrition and Reproduction but will have responsibilities across ANIS.

Place of work and area of employment
The place of work is Blichers Allé 20, DK-8830 Tjele, and the area of employment is Aarhus University with related departments. Teaching activities are primarily conducted at AU Campus, 8000 Aarhus.
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
Research activities will be evaluated in relation to actual research time. Thus, we encourage applicants to specify periods of leave without research activities, in order to be able to subtract these periods from the span of the scientific career during the evaluation of scientific productivity.
