Project assistant - aquatic ecology: Sweden

Linnaeus University offers a Project assistant position at the Department of Biology and Environmental Science.

Job tasks
The position will involve assisting in a project investigating microbial community adaptations to raised temperature in the Baltic Sea. The work will involve extraction of nucleic acids, PCR amplifications, water chemical analyses, and other general duties in the laboratory and potentially in the field.

Qualifications
Requirements for the position are a minimum of an undergraduate degree in molecular biology, microbiology, ecology, biotechnology, chemistry or similar subject. In addition, the applicant should be proficient in written and spoken English and have the ability to work independently as well as interact well in a research group.

Other assessment grounds that would place the candidate at an advantage include documented evidence of working within a microbiology laboratory as well as experience with DNA extractions, water chemistry and fieldwork. Finally, having a category B driver’s license would be beneficial. We attach great importance to personal suitability.

Terms of employment
The position will be 100 % for four months with the possibility for extension. The starting date is as soon as the position can be filled. The position is located in Kalmar, Sweden.
