University College Cork has an open position for Molecular Microbiologist for Human Microbiome Research in Respiratory Disease.

As a result of success in securing HRB and Irish Thoracic Society funding, an exciting Research Assistant (RA) position is available to join an international biomedical project in the BIOMERIT Research Centre, located in the Microbiology Department at University College Cork.

The appointed RA will join an international multidisciplinary team of Scientists and Clinicians in investigating the impact of specific bile acid signal molecules on the microbial pathogenicity and persistence of lung infections in respiratory disease. She/he will utilize microbiology and molecular techniques to investigate the diversity and virulence of the lung Microbiota in a cohort of Respiratory disease patients.

Candidates should have a degree in Microbiology /Molecular Biology /Genetics or related discipline. Proven skills and abilities in molecular techniques and bioinformatics would be advantageous. Excellent integration and communication skills are essential.
