Overview

The Research Associate/Senior Research Associate will play a key role in Kaleido’s groundbreaking efforts to build an in vitro biology platform to apply drug discovery principles to the study of the microbiome. This individual will join a dynamic, highly collaborative team that combines significant drug discovery experience with leading knowledge of microbiome biology and computational approaches.

Summary Of Key Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will work independently and with senior personnel to design and execute microbiological experiments, analyze data and present results
  • Variety of activities related to assay development, screening and analysis of microbial populations
  • Bacterial cell culture in a BL2 environment, under aerobic and anaerobic conditions
  • Manipulation of samples of mammalian origin
  • Careful documentation of procedures and results in a laboratory notebook

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in microbiology, molecular biology, or related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of research experience in an academic or industrial laboratory
  • Expertise with bacterial culture, understanding of bacterial physiology and excellent sterile technique
  • Proven track record of excellence in experimental design and execution, data analysis and problem solving; assay development a strong plus
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented individual with demonstrated ability to create protocols, document procedures and results in a laboratory notebook
  • Ability to think critically and creatively as part of a fast-paced research team
  • Outstanding teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm to respond to changing needs in a dynamic environment
  • Desire to learn new skills and take initiative
