Research Technician - microbiology: Switzerland

The group of Prof. Martin Pilhofer (Institute of Molecular Biology & Biophysics) at the Department of Biology (D-BIOL), ETH Zurich, is recruiting a technician with experience in molecular biological, biochemical or microbiological techniques.
The candidate
You will organize and perform general lab tasks (ordering, documentation) and support lab members with on-going experiments. You will teach students and newcomers to the lab. You will design experiments and conduct them independently while working closely with other research group members. After conducting in-depth analyses of your work’s findings, you will prepare reports which you will present at group meetings.
You are a qualified BTA, CTA, MTA, biology lab technician, or you have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology, chemistry, biotechnology or biochemistry. Additionally, you have some experience with molecular biological, biochemical, microbiological or imaging techniques. You are interested to develop new skillsets and contribute to the team’s scientific aims. You have strong organizational skills and you work well in a team. You are motivated, flexible, responsible and reliable. You have excellent English communication skills; German language skills are an advantage, but not necessary.
We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international and interdisciplinary research team as well as an opportunity to learn cryo-electron microscopy techniques; prior knowledge in this field is not required. Furthermore, we offer a competitive salary and a long-term perspective. The starting date is as soon as possible.
The Pilhofer Lab studies macromolecular machines that mediate bacterial cell-cell interactions by the application of classical microbiological and biochemical techniques, as well as state-of-the-art light microscopy and cryo-electron microscopy techniques.
The Department of Biology is located on the ETH Zürich Campus Hoenggerberg. ETH Zurich is a major research university, offering an excellent environment for innovative and collaborative research across disciplines.
