The Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW) is looking for a Researcher in RNA biology (Ref. No. SU FV-1981-19)

Project description

The position will be associated with the laboratory of Professor Neus Visa at MBW. The research of the laboratory is focused on the functions of the exosome, a multiprotein complex that is responsible for the processing and degradation of many RNAs (review by Eberle and Visa, 2014. PMID:24713468). The goal of the project is to understand the mechanisms by which RNAs and the exosome contribute to chromatin regulation in animal cells.

Main responsibilities
The position involves research in RNA biology and chromatin regulation using Drosophila melangaster as a model system. The researcher will continue an already ongoing research project in collaboration with other members of the Visa laboratory.

Qualification requirements
Researchers are appointed primarily for purposes of research and must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria
Suitable candidates should have extensive experience in molecular biology techniques such as molecular cloning, real-time RT-PCR, animal cell culture and RNA interference. Research experience using Drosophila melanogaster is also required. The applicants should have a high-quality publication record, a good knowledge of English (spoken and written) and motivation to study underlying mechanisms of genome regulation in eukaryotes. Scientific writing skills are also an asset.
