QIAGEN offers a position of a Senior Scientist.

Position Description

• Development of innovative life science products and technologies for nucleic acid extraction, especially as they relate to the microbiome field
• Collaboration within interdisciplinary project teams and across company functions
• Project management with internal and external project partners
• Scientific presentation and documentation of R&D results, internally and externally
• Launching new products to market in including technical customer support
• Life cycle management and technical support for existing product lines
• Managing and mentoring junior scientific staff
• Active networking with key opinion leaders in the field of microbiome

Position Requirements

• Scientific degree (PhD) in biology, microbiology, immunology or a related field
• Comprehensive knowledge of modern molecular biology techniques, in particular nucleic acid purification and amplification technologies
• Extensive laboratory experience with molecular biology techniques
• Specific experience with microbiology, metagenomics and bioinformatics
• Strong technical writing and presentation skills, for both internal and external audiences
• Knowledge or prior experience in project management is a plus
• Experience as independent postdoc in academia or industry is a plus

• Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written
• Excellent written and oral communication of research results
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Independent, self-motivated, and team-oriented
• Willingness to travel (up to 10%)
• Ability to be flexible and creative, and work in a fast-paced research environment
