Scientist (PostDoc; m/w) for the microbiome sequencing: Germany
The group of Prof. M. Gerhard at the Institut für Medizinische Mikrobiologie, Immunologie und Hygiene (MIH) at the Technische Universität München is dedicated to explore host-pathogen interaction. Within the research activities of the DZIF TTU gastrointestinal infections, the role of the microbiome during acute and chronic gastrointestinal infec-tions is explored in murine and human studies. Here, we are looking for a PostDoc for the next possible entry date to lead the microbiome sequencing facility (MiSeq based) in house, by supporting collaborative studies and pursuing own research projects.
Your profile
- University degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biotechnology, comparable subjects with PhD degree
- Experience in microbiome sequencing
- Experience in bioinformatic pipelines for analyzing sequencing data
- Expertise in Microbiology and Immunology
- Accurate, diligent and reliable conduction of lab work
- Enthusiasm for basic and translational science
- Excellent team spirit and communication skills
Your tasks
- Leading the microbiome sequencing facility at the MIH
- Performing 16S RNA and metagenome sequencing of the bacterial communities and genomes
- Support collaborative DZIF trials and projects with microbiome analyses
- Developing, planning and conducting own research projects in the field of microbiome research
- Performing bioinformatics analysis of sequencing data
- Acquiring third parts funding for scientific projects
- Excellent written and spoken English, communication level German preferable
