Two Tenure Track Assistant Professor Positions in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics: Oklahoma, USA

The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Oklahoma State University  invites applications for two 9-month tenure-track faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor.

The positions consist of research, teaching, and service. We seek outstanding scientists who employ a wide range of experimental, computational, and systems biology approaches to explore compelling research questions related to microbiome processes and interactions in human, animal, and/or environmental ecosystems. The successful applicant is expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program and establish a wide network of collaboration within the department, university, and the broader scientific community. They also are expected to design and teach undergraduate and graduate courses on topics related to the candidate’s expertise.

OSU Microbiology and Molecular Genetics is a dynamic multicultural department of discovery, innovation, and collaboration. We have 15 tenured and tenure-track faculty members and approximately 40 graduate students and ~275 undergraduate majors. Our nationally-funded research programs cover bacterial and eukaryotic systems, including microbial ecology, molecular pathogenesis, immunology, microbiome function, and cell biology. Research in the department is supported by state-of-the-art core facilities for genomics and bioinformatics, high throughput computing, mass spectroscopy, microscopy, protein analysis, biophysical instrumentation, and an animal/veterinary facility.

Applicants must hold a PhD. in microbiology or a closely related field. At least two years of post-doctoral research experience is required. Applicants should provide evidence of research accomplishments and a strong potential for obtaining external research funding. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and start-up package. Review of applications will commence on November 15th, 2020, and will continue until the position is filled.
