Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz is looking for University Assistant with doctorate
Main Duties:
- Independent research on molecular mechanisms of bacterial-host interactions in human and animal diseases; including animal (murine) infection models
- Cooperate with established research groups at the University of Graz, the Graz University of Technology and the Medical University of Graz
- Contribute to teaching in molecular biology and microbiology; co-supervise Bachelor-, Masters- and Ph.D. thesis projects
Profile:
- Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field
- Excellent publication record (commensurate with academic age) in international journals in the fields of infection biology and molecular microbiology research, preferably relevant to gastrointestinal disease
- Practical experience in planning and performing experiments in murine infection models (including certificate Felasa B or equivalent)
- Technical expertise in cultivating and genetically manipulating bacterial pathogens (biosafety level 2) as well as genome analyses
- Technical expertise in basic molecular biology methods, cell culture and microscopy
- Very good knowledge of the German and English languages (equivalent to level C1 or higher) and discipline-specific terminology
- Didactic competence to participate in teaching molecular biology and microbiology on university undergraduate and graduate levels
- Bioinformatics skills for independent microbiome and gene expression analyses (desirable)
- Capacity for responsible, independent work
- Reliability
- Skills in organization and teamwork
