The Medical Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University of Bonn invites applications for W2 Professor for Translational Microbiology (permanent position).

The Medical Faculty of the University of Bonn seeks to appoint a professor within the framework of the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) of the Helmholtz Association at the Bonn-Cologne location. The professorship will be established within the Institute for Medical Microbiology Immunology and Parasitology (Director: Prof. A. Hoerauf) at the University Hospital.

The professorship should work in the DZIF themes of new anti-infectives or neglected tropical diseases and strengthen the Immunology and Infection research focus of the Medical Faculty. The successful candidate will conduct translational research in anti-infectives and advance the identification and preclinical development of innovative medicinal agents, especially antibiotics/compounds or diagnostics against poverty associated infectious diseases. Experience in industrial pharmaceutical drug development and/or its implications for Global Health is advantageous.

We seek an internationally recognized researcher with the relevant expertise, excellent research qualifications, very good track record in obtaining external funding, and teaching skills. The candidate will integrate him-/herself into the established scientific research foci of the Medical Faculty, in particular in Infection and Global Health and also in teaching in the respective curricula.
