World Microbe Forum awarded

Microbes know no borders, and neither should microbiologists. The World Microbe Forum was organized by the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) and American Society of Microbiology (ASM), in collaboration with microbiological societies from around the globe.

Alfred Spormann speaking at World Microbe ForumWe are excited to announce that the World Microbe Forum has been chosen as the Bronze winner in the July competition of the Virtual Event Awards. This award reflects the hard work and enthusiasm of all involved.

The jury commented that they liked the way this event was a collaboration of different organisations, coming together to create one large and impactful gathering focused on some of the most important global issues today; it was an impressive event with over 600 sessions, even trending on Twitter.

Stefano Bertucci, ASM and Matt Harvey, FEMS at the Closing Cereremony of WMFWorld Microbe Forum’s aim was to break barriers to sharing science and to address the most pressing challenges facing humankind today. The global online event ran 24/7 from 20-24 June 2021, representing over 114 countries, and was, to quote a participant “An exciting way to further break down silos”.
