A Message from the FEMS Director of Events & Internationalization

Vaso Taleski, FEMS Director of Events & Internationalization

Dear Potential Students of the FEMS Summer School for Postdocs 2024!

The FEMS mission and vision to share microbiology knowledge and connect people in the field of microbiology has a strong foundation in this unique and exciting Summer School with the potential to have a substantial influence on the scientific career of early career microbiologists and on microbiology in general.

With great pleasure I would like to inform you that the fifth FEMS Summer School for Postdocs will take place at the fantastic venue MedILS, Split, Croatia, from 2 – 10 September 2024.

It is my honor to announce the directors that are preparing an excellent 8-days scientific programme with distinguished speakers-mentors: Prof. Andreja Rajkovic, Department of Food Technology, Safety and Health, Faculty Bio-Science Engineering Ghent University (Belgium), and Prof. Lisa Y. Stein from the Faculty of Science – Biological Sciences, University of Alberta (Canada).

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time affecting all aspects of life on Earth. The FEMS Summer School 2024 programme will be focusing on Climate Change: Challenges and Influence on Microbial Safety of Water and Food.

As previous Summer School participants, directors, mentors, and speakers have confirmed in their evaluations, this event is a great experience and an opportunity to improve your personal knowledge and skills, open new horizons, start new collaborations and scientific projects, and advance your scientific career. Ambitious postdocs should not miss this unique event.

Looking forward to your applications and participation.

Prof. d-r Vaso Taleski
FEMS Director of Events & Internationalization

FEMS Journals and Open Access

Embracing an Open Future

All but one of the FEMS journals are now fully open access (OA), with one journal, FEMS Microbiology Letters remaining a subscription journal with free-to-publish and OA options. Open access is key to supporting the FEMS mission of disseminating high quality research as widely as possible: when high quality, peer reviewed sound science is open access, anyone, anywhere in the world with an internet connection, can read it.
